Your memory of today
is already wrong.
By tonight you'll misremember what happened between 2 and 4pm. Hourly catches it while it's still true: one sentence, once an hour, kept on your computer and, if you like, added to today's Obsidian daily note. No categories. No timer to remember to start.

Every other tracker asks you
to remember it exists. This doesn't.
You've installed a time tracker before. It lasted three days, because it needed you to press start. Hourly needs you to press nothing. It comes to you.

Log
It only counts real time
Lock your screen, close the laptop, let it sleep. The clock pauses itself, so you're never chased for time you weren't at the keyboard for.
One prompt. Ten seconds.
A small window opens with your last entry sitting above an empty line. Type what you did, hit save. That's the whole interaction.
Filed before you forget it
Your line is saved on your computer and, if you like, dropped into today's daily note as plain markdown, while it's still fresh. Not reconstructed from memory at 11pm.
Small enough to trust
with every hour of your day.
Every decision here fights the same failure mode: the moment logging feels like work, you stop doing it.
Never pinged for time you weren't there
Lock, sleep and suspend all pause the clock automatically. If you weren't at the keyboard, it doesn't count against you.
Short, but never empty
One honest sentence, at least 50 characters by default (you can change it). Long enough to mean something next month, short enough to survive a real Tuesday.
One legal excuse, used sparingly
Deep in flow and don't want to break it? Skip once a day, no questions asked. That's the whole allowance.
Your whole day, one click away
Click the tray icon for every entry you've ever written, grouped by date, with a live countdown to the next prompt.
Yours, and ready for AI
Entries live in a plain file on your computer, and in your Obsidian daily note if you choose a folder. Export a day, a week or a month as Markdown, text or JSON and ask an AI where your time went.
Invisible until it isn't
Starts in the tray at login. No dock icon, no window to alt-tab past, no reason to notice it until it's time to ask.
This is what a Tuesday
actually looks like.
Not a summary generated after the fact. The actual sentences you typed, in the order you typed them.
Running in a minute.
Nothing leaves your machine.
No account, no cloud, no sync. Hourly writes plain lines into files you already own, and that's all it does.
Download and run
A 2MB installer. It starts quietly in your tray and launches with Windows from then on.
Add your notes folder (optional)
Use Obsidian or another folder of daily notes? Pick it and every entry is copied there too. Skip it and Hourly keeps everything on your computer.
Forget it exists
An hour of real activity later, it asks what you did. That's your only job from now on.
Needs Windows 10 or 11. Obsidian is optional.
Questions before you install
Do I need Obsidian?+
No. Hourly keeps every entry on your computer by itself. If you choose a notes folder, such as an Obsidian vault, it also writes each entry into that day's note, and Obsidian does not need to be open.
Will it pop up when I'm away or in a meeting?+
The hour only counts while you're actually at your computer. Locking the screen, sleep and suspend all pause the clock. For a meeting or a deep work block, you get one skip per day.
Where does my data go?+
Nowhere. There's no account, no server and no sync. Entries are kept in a file on your own disk, and copied into your daily note if you pick a notes folder.
Why at least 50 characters?+
Because a one word answer is useless a month later. Fifty characters is one honest clause, still about ten seconds of typing. You can raise or lower the minimum in Settings.
Is there a Mac version?+
Not yet. Vote for Mac and you'll be the first to know when it ships.
What does it cost?+
The hourly check-in is free forever. Pro features like weekly rollups and support for more note apps come later, and everyone who installs during early access gets them free for life.
What happens if I uninstall?+
Your entries stay where they are: in a file on your computer and, if you used a notes folder, as plain markdown in your vault. Nothing is lost.
Early access is open.
